What Does a Sellers’ Market Really Mean?

What Does a Sellers’ Market Really Mean?

Today’s low supply of homes for sale has equaled a sellers’ market for quite a while now. Conditions today are very good for those who wish to sell a house.

Currently there is a 2.6-month supply of home for sale. Historically, a 6-month supply is necessary for a normal market, which means there are enough homes available for active buyers.

What this means for sellers is that it’s harder for buyers to find a home to purchase, and multiple offers yield increased competition among purchasers. When buyers know this, they’re going to do their best to submit a very attractive offer.

Sellers are positioned to negotiate deals that meet their ideal terms. Listing a home right now in good condition and at the right price can maximize exposure to serious, competitive buyers.
